Introduction to October Scholarships

Ah, October. There are so many things going on in October: the first real month of fall, Halloween, and, as you might have guessed, lots and lots of scholarships to apply for!

Now that the novelty of the beginning of a new school year has worn off, hopefully, that means more time to take an even deeper dive into the world of paying for college and scholarships.

In this post, I highlight 25 great opportunities to apply for. No matter where you're at in your scholarships journey, there's guaranteed to be a scholarship in the post for you!

Scholarships to Apply for in October 2021

  • Amount: $1,000

    Deadline: End of October

    Eligibility: Open to students of all years! Simply set up a profile on Tallo to apply.

  • Amount: Varies, but it's usually between $1,000 and $2,500!

    Deadline: End of October 

    Eligibility: Open to high school, college, and graduate students in the US.

  • Amount: $2,000

    Deadline: October 31

    Eligibility: Open to high school seniors and undergraduate students in the US.

  • Amount: $10,000

    Deadline: Quarterly 

    Eligibility: Open to all students 13 and older!

  • Amount: $2,222

    Deadline: End of October

    Eligibility: Open to students ages 13 and older. All you need to do to apply is create an account.

  • Amount: $2,500

    Deadline: Quarterly 

    Eligibility: Open to high school juniors and seniors interested in attending a Christian college or university.

  • Amount: 50% of the program fee

    Deadline: October 1

    Eligibility: Open to outstanding Hispanic students attending HACU-member schools looking to study abroad with AIFS.

  • Amount: $1,500

    Deadline: October 1

    Eligibility: Open to undergraduate and graduate students attending a school in the US.

  • Amount: $3,000

    Deadline: October 1

    Eligibility: Open to undergraduate science majors engaged in research at ICFNJ’s member colleges and universities. Must be a junior or senior with a minimum 3.5 GPA.

  • Amount: $7,000

    Deadline: October 3

    Eligibility: Open to 2nd-4th year medical students from minority groups who have demonstrated commitment to helping underserved communities.

  • Amount: Varies ($5,000 - $10,000)

    Deadline: October 4

    Eligibility: Open to students ages 16+.

  • Amount: $2,000

    Deadline: October 14

    Eligibility: Open to high school seniors as well as undergraduate and graduate school students. Must be pursuing a degree that enables you or others in your community to learn a new trade, develop skills and technology, or start a small business related to home services offered by Porch.

  • Amount: $3,500 

    Deadline: October 15

    Eligibility: Open to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in a logistics/supply chain degree program at an institution within the 9 counties comprising the San Francisco Bay Area.

  • Amount: $1,000

    Deadline: October 15

    Eligibility: Open to women 25 years of age or older who are returning to school. Applicants must live and attend school in the Greater Los Angeles area, including Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura Counties (with the exception of specific scholarships for UNLV students).

  • Amount: $1,000

    Deadline: October 15

    Eligibility: Open to high school seniors worldwide with a minimum 3.0/4.0 GPA who are planning on pursuing a degree in one of the following disciplines: Business/Business Administration, Finance/Economics, Public Policy. NSHSS membership is not required to apply.

  • Amount: $5,000

    Deadline: October 28

    Eligibility: Open to African American college seniors enrolled full-time at four-year HBCU's. Minimum 3.0 GPA. 

  • Amount: $90,000

    Deadline: October 28

    Eligibility: Open to immigrants or the children of immigrants, who are pursuing graduate school in the United States. Must be 30 or younger by the application deadline. 

  • Amount: $500 - $1,000

    Deadline: October 30 

    Eligibility: PABJ offers three scholarships - one for four-year undergraduate students, one for community college/two-year college students, and one for high school students. Must live in the Philadelphia area and be interested in/pursuing a degree in journalism or a related area of study.

  • Amount: up to $10,000

    Deadline: October 30

    Eligibility: Easy, no-essay scholarship open to US residents enrolled full-time at a two or four-year US college or university.

  • Amount: $1,000

    Deadline: October 30 

    Eligibility: Open to students enrolled full-time at a US college or university.

  • Amount: $500

    Deadline: October 31

    Eligibility: Open to high school seniors. 100 students who create a balanced list on BigFuture with at least six colleges will be randomly selected at the end of each month (April - October) to win. The final deadline is the end of October.

  • Amount: $1,000

    Deadline: October 31

    Eligibility: Open to all students currently enrolled in a community college, junior college, undergraduate, or graduate institution located anywhere in the United States. High school seniors may also apply.

  • Amount: $1,000

    Deadline: October 31

    Eligibility: This easy opportunity is open to all undergraduate students studying in the US. 25 scholarships will be awarded to US citizens and 25 scholarships will be awarded to international students studying in the US.

  • Amount: up to $30,000

    Deadline: October 31

    Eligibility: Open to high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Must be a US citizen or permanent resident.

  • Amount: up to $2,500

    Deadline: October 31

    Eligibility: Open to high school seniors, college, and graduate school students.
