Introduction to New Jersey scholarships

In this scholarship post, we’re tackling the Garden State, otherwise known as New Jersey! New Jersey scholarships are available for both residents and for students simply attending a New Jersey college or university. 

We’ll start off by diving straight into New Jersey scholarships offered by private organizations, before leaving you with a shortlist of recommended financial aid and reading resources to bookmark as you begin or continue along your financial aid journey.

New Jersey scholarships to apply for

  • Amount: $1,000

    Deadline: March 31, June 30, September 30, December 31

    While our quarterly scholarship is not exclusive to Minnesota students, it’s a great no-essay scholarship to apply for in addition to the scholarships on this list! Open to high school, college, and graduate students of all years. DACA students are also encouraged to apply.

  • Amount: $25,000

    Deadline: Monthly

    Details: This monthly scholarship is open to all college students!  Just fill out one simple registration form.

  • Amount: $50,000

    Deadline: Monthly

    Eligibility: The ScholarshipPoints Scholarship is a monthly no essay scholarship open to all high school and college students ages 16 and older, who are US residents!

  • Amount: $2,000

    Eligibility: Open to high school seniors as all undergraduate students

  • Amount: $2,000

    Deadline: February 7

    Eligibility: Open to New Jersey high school seniors planning to study journalism/media studies in college. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA and have participated in high school journalism-related activities for 2 years or more.

  • Amount: Varies

    Deadline: February 15

    Eligibility: Open to college juniors and seniors, along with masters and doctoral students who  are interested in pursuing degrees in business, chemistry, civil engineering, construction management, marketing, or sales. Applicants can be from any U.S. state, but preference will be given to residents of Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, or West Virginia.

  • Amount: $1,625

    Deadline: February 15

    Eligibility: Open to undergraduate sophomores, juniors, and seniors studying anything related to engineering at a college or university in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, or Virginia. Must be a SWE member to apply.

  • Amount: up to $5,000 (renewable for four years)

    Deadline: March 1

    Eligibility: Open to high school seniors and first-year students at technical/vocational schools. Must live in Gloucester, Camden, or Burlington county, but can be attending or planning to attend college anywhere in the US. 

  • Amount: $1,250

    Deadline: March 1

    Eligibility: Open to high school seniors, including those who have attended Camp College and/or College Key.

  • Amount: $3,500

    Deadline: March 26

    Eligibility: The Jewish Community Foundation offers numerous financial awards to primarily benefit local scholars that reside in Burlington, Camden, or Gloucester counties in New Jersey. Applicants must plan to be enrolled in full-time, post-high school studies for the upcoming Fall semester.

  • Amount: $1,000

    Deadline: March 1

    Eligibility: Open to female Princeton Regional High School students planning to pursue a career in education.

  • Amount: Varies ($500 - $1,000)

    Deadline: March 15

    Eligibility: Open to New Jersey residents who are currently enrolled in associate, bachelors, and masters-level nursing programs. Preference is given to students who are attending school in New Jersey.

  • Amount: $2,500

    Deadline: March 18

    Eligibility: Open to students attending or accepted to attend ALA-accredited LIS graduate schools. Applicants must live or work in the state of New Jersey.

  • Amount: Varies

    Deadline: March 31

    Eligibility: Open to college and graduate school students with Swiss heritage who are pursuing a full-time degree at any college or university. Must be permanently living in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, or Connecticut and have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

  • Amount: $5,000

    Deadline: April 1

    Eligibility: Are you a high school senior from New Jersey? If so, consider applying for the NJHOF Arete Scholarship Award! Each year, the scholarship awards $5,000 to one exceptional male and one exceptional female student who are graduating from a New Jersey high school this academic year. 

  • Amount: $7,500

    Deadline: April 1

    Eligibility: Open to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in environmental science or a related environmental field. Must be a New Jersey resident and have at least a 3.0 GPA.

  • Amount: Varies

    Deadline: April 15

    Eligibility: Open to high school seniors, undergraduate, and graduate school students with Italian heritage.

  • Amount: $1,000

    Deadline: April 30

    Eligibility: Open to full-time students in good standing at any New Jersey accredited college, or a resident of New Jersey attending any accredited out-of-state college. Must have at least a sophomore level standing and be enrolled in a curriculum related to natural resources including but not limited to: agriculture, agronomy, conservation, ecology, environmental science, etc (see scholarship page for the full list!).

  • Amount: $1,000

    Deadline: May 29

    Eligibility: Open to high school seniors and current college students of Asian descent who attend school in the Greater Philadelphia region (includes Camden and Atlantic counties in Southern New Jersey).

  • Amount: $1,500

    Deadline: May 31

    Eligibility: The RTK Scholars Program provides a $1,500 scholarship to the qualifying students who study environmental science, biology, engineering, or a related physical sciences major.

  • Amount: Varies

    Deadline: Rolling

    Eligibility: Open to high school seniors in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Tulsa Oklahoma. Students may attend any four-year accredited college or university in the US.

  • Amount: $1,000

    Deadline: Rolling

    Eligibility: Open to students under the age of 24 who are either high school seniors entering college or are currently full-time undergraduates. Must be actively involved in your local church and have at least a 3.0 GPA.

    Eligibility: Multiple scholarships open to high school, college, and graduate students of various majors. Most scholarships require students to be attending an ICFNJ member institution.

    Eligibility: Open to  accounting students at New Jersey colleges who are currently in their second year (community college), sophomore or junior year or in their senior year and entering an accounting-related graduate program in New Jersey.

NJIT’s Pre-College Prep Programs offer students in grades 4-12 the opportunity to learn about careers in STEM-related fields. 

America Needs You is a competitive fellowship program providing high achieving, low-income, first-generation students with one-on-one mentorship, extensive professional networks, internship support, and a structured career development curriculum. Must be a current college freshman in New Jersey, New York, California, or Illinois.
