To honor Richard’s memory and to keep alive his splendid example of service, the Richard E. Whitted scholarship was created to award a college-bound member of the senior class of each of the Orange County and Chapel Hill-Carrboro City schools who has shown outstanding academic achievement and public service.
The fellowship application is made jointly by a student in his/her third year of an accredited periodontal postdoctoral training program in the United States at the time of the application deadline and by the student’s periodontal program director.
