The state of Nevada is home to over 50 four-year public universities, two-year community colleges, and private undergraduate and graduate universities combined. Whether you’re a high school senior looking at attending a New Mexico college or university, or you’re a current college student at one of Nevada's many institutions, this post highlights many great scholarships and resources for you to take advantage of.

Nevada scholarships offered by private organizations

  • Amount: $1,000

    Deadlines: Quarterly

    Details: Before we get into all of the Nevada-specific private scholarships, check out our very own. No essay or minimum GPA required to apply. Open to US citizens, international students in the US, and students with DACA and undocumented status.

  • Amount: $50,000

    Deadline: Rolling monthly

  • Amount:  $2,500 Monthly

    Deadline: Expires on the last day of each month

    Eligibility: The ScholarshipPoints Scholarship is a monthly no essay scholarship open to all high school and college students ages 16 and older, who are US residents!

  • Amount: $8,000

    Deadline: Rolling

    Details: For the opportunity to win an $8,000 scholarship, submit a video or written essay about an individual you know personally (who lives in your community) who has inspired you and helped you build the confidence you need to achieve your goals.

  • Amount: up to $5,500

    Deadline: June 30

    Details: Are you a low-income, Nevada resident enrolled in one of NSHE’s community colleges (College of Southern Nevada, Great Basin College, Truckee Meadows Community College, or Western Nevada College) or Nevada State College? If so, the Silver State Opportunity Grant (SSOG) may be a great opportunity for you! Each year, the grant is awarded to Nevada residents attending an NSHE Community College or Nevada State College who have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) under $8,500. 

  • Amount: $400

    Deadline: April 1

    Details: Are you a Roman Catholic high school senior of Italian descent who lives within the Roman Catholic Dioceses or where the Branches of Federation were established in California, Illinois, or Nevada? Alternatively, are you a Roman Catholic high school senior with a parent, guardian, or grandparent who is a member of the Italian Catholic Federation? If either applies, you may be eligible for the ICF First-Year College Scholarship!

    Details:Are you a high school senior at a Nevada or bordering high school whose parent has been a full-time employee of Caesars Entertainment (formerly Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc.) at any Caesars property in Nevada for at least three years? If so, you may be eligible for the Caesars Nevada Team Member Scholarship! 

  • Amount: $2,500

    Deadline: April 15

    Details: Cathay Bank Foundation is committed to supporting youth residing in its business service territories to fulfill their dreams of obtaining a higher education. Each year, they offer 20 $2,500 scholarships to high school seniors across the US.

  • Amount: Varies

    Deadline: April 30

    Details: Are you an ambitious, college-bound high school senior from Washoe, Douglas, Carson City, Storey, Lyon, or Churchill County in Nevada, or at South Lake Tahoe High School? If so, you may be eligible for the John R. Stockman Scholarship! 

  • Amount: $1,000

    Deadline: April 30

    Details: Are you a Northern Nevada resident pursuing a degree or certificate from Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC), Western Nevada College (WNC), Great Basin College (GBC), or another vocational program? If so, you may be eligible for the Ron and Linda Smith Family Scholarship! 

  • Amount: $500

    Deadline: Rolling

    Details: The Macy’s Emergency Scholarship Fund is a joint partnership between LNESC & Macy’s to provide financial resources to deserving students facing economic hardship and immediate monetary need.

  • Amount:  $1,000

    Deadline: January 9

    Details: The Built Ford Tough Scholarship is open to high school seniors and current college students who are members of FFA.

  • Amount: Varies

    Deadline: February 14

    Details: The scholarships are available to high school seniors living near a Simon mall or in the surrounding communities.

  • Amount: $1,000

    Deadline: April 21

    Details: The Royal Business Bank Scholarship Program annually awards $1,000 each to four college-bound high school seniors from select counties in New York, New Jersey, California, Nevada, Illinois, and Hawaii. Eligible counties in Nevada include Clark County.  Applicants must also have a minimum 3.0 GPA and a household income at or below the County Low Income Level. 

  • Amount: $1,500

    Deadline: April 1

    Details:  Are you a high school student residing in the American west or U.S. territories whose Governors participate in the bipartisan Western Governors’ Association? More importantly, do you love where you live and have a passion for art? If so, you might consider applying for the Celebrate the West Contest!

  • Amount: $500 to $750

    Deadline: February 5

    Details: Are you a college-bound high school senior residing in Clark County, Nevada? If so, you may be eligible for the Aloha Scholarship! Each year, the scholarship awards $750 each to two students pursuing a 4-year degree, and $500 each to two students pursuing a trade/vocational degree. Applicants must also have a minimum 2.5 GPA and attend a charter, private, or CCSD high school.

  • Amount: $25,000

    Deadline:  April 30

    Details: The GIAR Grandmother’s First-Generation Scholarship annually awards up to $5,000 to first-generation young women of Portuguese, Mexican, Central American, or South American ancestry who are residing in Nevada or Hawaii. Applicants must also be under the age of 25 and have graduated or are graduating seniors from high school with a cumulative GPA of no less than 3.0. To apply, submit a transcript, proof of enrollment or acceptance to a U.S. College or University, a one-page essay, and a financial aid packet.

  • Amount: Up to 3 years’ tuition

    Deadline: October 31

    Details: Are you a Nevada resident and high school graduate who will be enrolling as a full-time community college student for each semester of the school year immediately following high school graduation? Further, will that community college be one of the College of Southern Nevada campuses? If so, you may be eligible for the Nevada Promise Scholarship!

  • Amount: $5,000

    Deadline: December 31

    Details: To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be the dependent of a worker left seriously injured or deceased in a work-related accident or occupational disease covered under Nevada Law.

  • Amount: $2,000

    Deadline: December 31

    Details: The Crutchfield-Healy Memorial Scholarship is a way to further recognize the accomplishments of a GSSN (Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada) Ambassador Girl Scout who has won the Gold Award.
