Maine scholarships offered by private organizations

  • Amount: $1,000

    Deadlines: Quarterly

    Details: Before we get into all of the Maine-specific private scholarships, check out our very own. No essay or minimum GPA required to apply. Open to US citizens, international students in the US, and students with DACA and undocumented status.

  • Amount: $25,000

  • Amount:  $2,500 Monthly

    Deadline: Expires on the last day of each month

    Eligibility: The ScholarshipPoints Scholarship is a monthly no essay scholarship open to all high school and college students ages 16 and older, who are US residents!

  • Amount: $2,500

    Deadline: August 31

    Details: Are you a Maine resident enrolled at least half-time at a Maine public or private university, college, or technical school that administers federal financial aid? If so, you may be eligible for the Maine State Grant Program! Each year, the program awards up to $2,500 to Maine undergraduate students, with applicants enrolled in more credits being eligible to earn more scholarship money.

    Details: The Betty Lou Bailey SWE Region F Scholarship is for female applicants planning to study a full-time ABET-accredited program in engineering, technology, or computing in the upcoming academic year.

    Details: One-time award available to a high school student in senior year, pursuing a course of study in civil engineering. Must be enrolled in a four year ABET accredited Civil Engineering program at the time of award. Must be a resident of Maine. Essay, references and transcript required with application.

  • Amount: $2,500

    Deadline: January 31

    Details: The Wayne Dudley Scholarship is available to high school seniors and undergraduate students who or their parents reside in the Premier membership area and must be active Premier customers. Students planning to pursue postsecondary education in agriculture-related fields are welcome to apply.

  • Amount: $5,000 to $10,000

    Deadline:  March 1

    Details: The Geiger Scholarship offers financial support for students who live on one of Maine’s unbridged islands year-round. The goal of the program is to expand the educational horizons of these students through off-island enrichment and travel programs such as summer camp, semester study abroad, and gap year programs.

    Details: Are you an aspiring journalist from New England? If so, consider applying for the Journalism Education Foundation of New England Scholarship! Each year, the scholarship awards up to $2,000 to ten (10) graduating high school seniors or current undergraduates from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Vermont who are studying journalism or a related field.

  • Amount: $2,500 to $5,000

    Details: Are you a college-bound high school senior from Maine who demonstrates exemplary character? If so, consider applying for the Mainely Character Scholarship! Each year, the scholarship awards between $2,500 and $5,000 to multiple high school seniors from Maine who demonstrate amazing “concern for others”, responsibility, integrity, and courage.

  • Amount:  $2,500

    Details: Are you’re majoring or thinking about majoring in a plant-oriented field of study, we recommend that you apply for the New England ISA Undergrad/Grad scholarship!

  • Amount: $5,000

    Deadline: April 1

    Details: The Richard H. Pierce Memorial Scholarship annually grants $5,000 each to fifteen (15) Maine residents who will be entering their first year of post-secondary education. These scholarships are renewable for up to four years, meaning that recipients can earn up to $20,000 over the course of a four-year degree.

  • Amount: $4,000

    Deadline: April 1

    Details: To be eligible a student enrolled in a civil engineering program at a 4-year college or university. Applicants must also must be attending or have been accepted into an appropriate college/university program at the undergraduate or graduate level and be from or attending school in New England.

  • Amount:  $3,000

    Deadline: April 1

    Details: The Francis X. Crowley Scholarship annually awards $3,000 to a student enrolled in a civil or environmental engineering program or a business management program at a 4-year college or university in New England.

  • Amount: up to $20,000

    Deadline: April 5

    Details: The Worthington Scholarship is open to seniors graduating from designated high schools in Maine and planning to enroll full-time at a college or university in the state. Students may plan to begin at a 4-year college or university in the state or at a community college with the possibility of transferring to a 4-year school.

  • Amount: $1,500

    Details: The SENEDIA STEM Scholarship is open to students enrolled in a science, technology, engineering, or math field with the potential to support the future national security and defense sector workforce.

  • Amount: $5,000

    Deadline: May 1

    Details: In keeping with the mission of the organization to advance initiatives that impact and promote the health and well-being of Seacoast residents, candidates must be pursuing an undergraduate (not limited to high school seniors) or graduate degree in a health-related field of study. To be eligible for award consideration, applicants must be a current resident of one of the following communities (Portsmouth, North Hampton, Greenland, Rye, Newington and New Castle, New Hampshire.

  • Amount: $17,000

    Deadline: May 1

    Details: A renewable award open to full-time undergraduate students with financial need who display academic achievement, a commitment to serving others (in school, in the community or at home) a strong work ethic, and leadership qualities. A U.S. citizen or noncitizen who has a current lawful presence in the United States and has a work permit, and is a permanent resident of a New England state.

    Details: Are you a high school senior who demonstrate personal excellence on and off the ice. All applicants must be New England residents and skate at FMC arenas.

  • Amount: Varies

    Deadline: June 1

    Details: The Patriot Education Scholarship Fund is looking for graduating seniors from Maine high schools or recent graduates (within four years of the date of application) who are currently enrolled in a Maine college or university pursuing a business degree. 

  • Amount: $1,500

    Deadline: June 1

    Details: The MAP Scholarship is offered to juniors and seniors that attend a high school and live on one of Maine’s unbridged islands year-round and are planning to pursue post-secondary education. Students must be currently enrolled in or have graduated from the highest grade available at the island school.

  • Amount: Varies

    Deadline: June 1

    Details: The Lydia R. Laurendeau Scholarship Fund provides renewable scholarship support to young women who are pursuing post-secondary education in either science or engineering at a four-year university. There is a preference for applicants demonstrating a connection to their Franco-American heritage. Eligible applicants will be female graduating seniors from a Maine high school who are pursuing a major in science or engineering at a four-year university.
