Scholarship Description

The Texas Mutual scholarship program is an exclusive benefit to Texas Mutual-covered injured workers and their families.

Who is eligible?

(1) Injured employees. Injured employees of Texas Mutual policyholders whose injuries qualify them for lifetime benefits may be eligible. Lifetime benefits are outlined under Section 408.161 of the Texas Workers’ Compensation Act.

(2) Dependents. The children and/or spouse of a person who: (a) Was employed by a Texas Mutual policyholder; (b) Died as a result of a compensable work-related accident OR has injuries that qualify them for lifetime benefits.

Children must be unmarried, between the ages of 16 and 25, and eligible for workers’ compensation benefits. Surviving spouses (in cases of workplace fatalities) must be unmarried and eligible for workers’ compensation benefits.

Applicants could receive up to $6,600 for school expenses (e.g., tuition, fees, books and supplies). Application deadlines: For the fall semester, applications are due by June 30. For spring semester, applications are due by October 31.

  • Award is available to Canadian citizens
