Scholarship Description
The Mitchell Institute awards scholarships to graduating students from every public high school in Maine each year. The scholarship award is in the amount of $10,000 and Mitchell Scholars have up to six years to use the funds. An award check in the amount of $2500 will be disbursed to each Scholar annually for up to four years.
To be eligible for consideration, an applicant must be a legal resident of Maine and a graduating student from a public high school in Maine. Students who attend a public school in Maine but come from households with residency outside of Maine are not eligible to apply for the Mitchell Scholarship.
Applicants should plan to attend a two-year or four-year degree program at an accredited college or university in the fall semester immediately following their high school graduations. Students pursuing a two-year degree are eligible for up to four years of scholarship support if they continue their educations beyond the initial two years. Mitchell Scholars may attend colleges in- or out-of-state.
