SAE Heinz C. Prechter Automotive Excellence Scholarship

Scholarship Description

The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage young entrepreneurs in the automotive industry by providing seed funds that enable them to bring their ideas to fruition. Applicants will be judged on the creativity, ingenuity, and practicality of their entrepreneurial idea and how it will positively impact the automotive industry. Evidence of the above will come from the application form and letters of recommendation from faculty advisors and industry contacts. Individuals or groups may apply.

One scholarship of $10,000 will be awarded each year.

Eligibility:

• U.S. Resident
• Pursue an engineering or related science degree through an ABET-accredited program.
• Applications will be judged on the basis of the creativity, ingenuity, and practicality of the applicant’s entrepreneurial idea and how it will positively impact the automotive industry.
• To be considered, applicants MUST have a fully outlined, actionable design plan and the ability to implement the idea within 6-12 months of the scholarship period.
• Two letters of recommendation required (from faculty advisers and/or industry contacts)

• Award is available to U.S. citizens
• Award is available to Canadian citizens
• Award is available to citizens of countries other than the U.S. and Canada.
