Scholarship Description

The Robert W. Valimont Plan II is awarded once a year of $600 and is mailed directly to the student after a copy of their grades for that semester is sent in to the department and has a grade point average of 2.5 or better. This is a two-year community college scholarship for Pennsylvania High School seniors. Applicants who are eligible are children or grandchildren of American Legion Department of Pennsylvania members, who are deceased, ICU, or MIA, or has a parent or grandparent who has been in the military or is a military member in good standing in the American Legion. Membership in The American Legion must be documented by either a photocopy of current membership card or Letter on Post stationery by Post Commander, Adjutant or Finance Officer attesting to person’s membership in good standing including length of years. If deceased, a statement that the person was a member in good standing at the time of their death should be provided. If killed in action or missing in action is claimed, documentation from the U.S. Department of Defense must accompany the application. Take note that not sending a transcript and SAT scores can prevent the application from being considered. Statement of parent/s income may be a W-2 or a photocopy of the first page of a 1040 form. Total income must be $70,000 or less to be considered eligible.
