Scholarship Description

The Congressional Hunger Center seeks talented U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents from every sector and background who are dedicated to fighting hunger and poverty on a global scale. Accordingly, individuals from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds as well as those with lived experience of food insecurity are especially encouraged to apply to the Mickey Leland International Hunger Fellowship. Most fellows come into the program with a graduate degree, though a bachelor’s degree with 1-2 years of work or volunteer experience is also adequate. The Hunger Center provides a financial package based on cost of living data for each placement location, determined by host organization estimates and third-party resources. Financial packages are calculated for each fellowship cycle with the most up-to-date data available, so it can change from class to class.
