Scholarship Description

The Ford Opportunity Program was originally established by Hallie E. Ford (1905-2007), a founder of The Ford Family Foundation, to assist single parents in obtaining a college degree. The program has expanded to include all parents of any age and other adults over the age of 25. Single parents are still strongly encouraged to apply. Up to to 96 renewable scholarships are awarded each year to students from Oregon and Siskiyou County, California.

Scholarship amount: Award covers 90% of unmet college costs and is calculated on the college’s Cost of Attendance (tuition, fees, room and board, personal costs, etc.), minus other grants and scholarships.

WHO QUALIFIES?

  • Residents of Oregon or Siskiyou County, California
  • Parents of any age (single parents strongly encouraged to apply)
    -OR-
    Adult learners over the age of 25 as of March 1 of the application year
  • Students seeking an associate or bachelor’s degree at an eligible public or private (nonprofit) college
  • Students with at least one year remaining in their degree program
  • Students who plan to enroll full time in their state of residence (Oregon or California)

  • Type of institution award is open to: two-year college
  • Type of institution award is open to: four-year college
  • Type of institution award is open to: trade/technical school
  • Award is available to U.S. citizens
