Scholarship Description
Eligible to participate at the American Legion Department of Tennessee High School Oratorical Contest are citizens and lawful residents of Tennessee; bona fide students under the age of 20 years on the date of the National Oratorical Contest; and in grades 9 through 12 of a school in Tennessee. The Department of Tennessee awards $6,000 in Oratorical scholarships each year. The state winner competes for another $18,000 at the National American Legion level. Oratorical scholarship recipients will be eligible to receive their scholarships immediately upon graduation from high school (public, parochial, military, private or state accredited home school) and must utilize the total award within eight (8) years, excluding active military duty or religious mission. Scholarships may be used to attend any college or university in the United States.
