Scholarship Description
This $500 travel award supports recipients who are graduate students, medical students or medical residents (residents up to postgraduate year three) giving abstract-based oral or poster presentations at Digestive Disease Week (DDW). The top scoring abstract will be designated the Student Abstract of the Year and receive a $1,000 award. Applicants must be the first author of an abstract or the designated speaker of an oral presentation accepted by AGA for presentation at DDW. Applicants must be graduate students, medical students or medical residents (residents up to postgraduate year three) at an institution in North America who have performed original research related to diseases, structure or function of the digestive system. Postdoctoral fellows, technicians, visiting scientists and MD research fellows are not eligible for this award. Graduate students, medical students and medical residents training outside North America (U.S., Canada and Mexico) are ineligible. Applicants who are physician-scientists, female or from racial/ethnic groups underrepresented in biomedical research are strongly encouraged to apply.
