Scholarship Description
The STEM Scholarship Program awards $3,000 to up to five recipients studying science, technology, engineering, math, or computer science at a four-year college or university.
Criteria:
1. The applicant must be a citizen of the US or Canada.
2. GPA 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
3. The applicant must be a graduating high school senior or enrolled undergraduate in an accredited post-secondary institution in the year of the scholarship award.
4. Enrolled in one of the following majors or closely related programs:
a. Civil Engineering
b. Computer Science or Computer Engineering
c. Geology or Geological Engineering
d. Environmental Engineering
e. Math
f. Mechanical Engineering
g. Electrical Engineering
h. Mining or Mineral Resources
i. Land Surveying
j. Structural Engineering
k. Urban Planning
l. Water Resources or Hydrology
5. Interest in a paid internship with RESPEC following their freshman, sophomore, or junior year of college. Note that the internship is not required for a scholarship, and the recipients are not guaranteed an internship.
6. Additional consideration will be given to applicants who self-identify as members of groups that are traditionally underrepresented in STEM careers, including women; racial and ethnic minorities; individuals with a disability (as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act); Individuals who identify as LGBTQ; individuals that are or will be first-generation college students; active duty US military, including Reserves and National Guard; US military Veteran, including Reserves and National Guard; spouse of US Military Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, or Veteran.
