Scholarships are intended for African American undergraduate physics majors. Applicants should be either sophomores or juniors. Award for use in junior or senior year of study.

- Must be Black, African American
- Award is available to U.S. citizens

Among its many activities, NSBP has named Science Ambassadors to give lectures to elementary, middle, high school, and university students encouraging them to pursue careers in science, engineering, and mathematics, with a special emphasis on physics.
