Scholarship Description

The Francis D. Lyon Graduate Fellowship is awarded annually to a graduate student in the field of film making or a closely related field such as theatre/drama, writing or entertainment. Only graduate students are eligible to apply. Membership in Phi Delta Theta is not a requirement. Students of film making will be given first priority for the Lyon Fellowship. Other areas of consideration reflect on talent, academic excellence, and financial need. The student is required to be enrolled in a college or university in the United States or Canada. A member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity who applies for the fellowship must be in good standing financially with his chapter in order to receive consideration. All applicants must submit a completed application, a work sample and a transcript (student copy will suffice).

Eligibility Requirements

  • For residents of the following states: Vermont
  • Type of institution award is open to: four-year college
  • Award is available to U.S. citizens
  • Award is available to Canadian citizens
  • Award is available to citizens of countries other than the U.S. and Canada.

Donor: Phi Delta Theta Foundation

The Foundation grants scholarships to undergraduate and graduate members in good standing who will be continuing their studies during the entire upcoming academic year. The Board of Trustees has implemented an open application process for all scholarships. Applications are available online and applicants are eligible for both chapter-specific scholarships and general scholarships.
