Scholarship Description
This program provides $2,500 scholarships to children of New Hampshire service members who died on active duty or of service-connected disabilities to attend New Hampshire public colleges and universities. The funds are to be used for room, board, books, and supplies at New Hampshire public colleges and universities. Since 1981, the Legislature has also allowed qualified children of fallen veterans to receive free tuition through the University System of New Hampshire and Community College System of New Hampshire. Eligibility Requirements
- Aged between 16 and 25 years old
- For residents of the following states: New Hampshire
- Served in any military service
- Special military service requirements
- Type of institution award is open to: two-year college
- Type of institution award is open to: four-year college
- Award is available to U.S. citizens

The Division of Higher Education – Higher Education Commission, under the N.H. Department of Education coordinates and regulates the activity of private, profit and non-profit colleges, universities and career schools. The Division also approves programs for eligible veterans utilizing their GI Bill benefits; provides copies of closed school transcripts to former students; conducts research and studies; administers the Scholarships for Orphans of Veterans, administers federal grants related to postsecondary education.
