Scholarship Description


To promote environmental studies by students who are residents of New Jersey or nonresidents studying in New Jersey or its surrounding waters.


Open to college students, graduate students, Ph.D. candidates, or non-degree-seeking applicants above the high school level.

Applicants must be either:

  1. a) residents of New Jersey studying in New Jersey or elsewhere, or
  2. b) nonresidents of New Jersey pursuing study in the state or its surrounding waters. Eligibility is open to U.S. Citizens and permanent residents who are enrolled in a U.S. – based institution.

Due to IRS restrictions, GCA is unable to fund awards for international applicants.


Provides $3,000 in financial assistance to one or more scholars annually for summer environmental studies selected by the applicants. (The award amount was increased from $1500 in 2007.)
