Scholarship Description

The Urban Scholarship Fund is for graduating high school seniors, new and/or returning college students attending any accredited nonprofit public or independent two or four-year college/university or technical school. ANNUAL awards are $700 for community college, junior college and technical college; $1,000 for public four-year college/university; and $2,000 for independent (private) four-year college/university.

Funds are disbursed half each semester.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Must be an undergraduate
  • United States Citizen (No ID required)  or permanent resident (front and back copy of I-551)
  • Texas Resident
  • Demonstrate financial need (EFC not exceeding 001000 (NO EXCEPTIONS)
  • Graduate of a high school in one of the following 43 cities (NO EXCEPTIONS):
    • Abilene, Allen, Amarillo, Arlington, Austin, Beaumont, Brownsville, Carrollton,College Station, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Denton, Edinburg, El Paso, Fort Worth, Frisco, Garland, Grand Prairie, Houston, Irving, Killeen, Laredo, League City, Lewisville, Lubbock, McAllen, McKinney, Mesquite, Midland, New Braunfels, Odessa, Pasadena, Pearland, Plano, Richardson, Round Rock, San Angelo, San Antonio, Sugarland, The Woodlands, Tyler, Waco and Wichita Falls.

  • For residents of the following states: Texas
  • Type of institution award is open to: two-year college
  • Type of institution award is open to: four-year college
  • Type of institution award is open to: trade/technical school
  • Award is available to U.S. citizens
