Scholarship Description

The Wyoming Department of Education annually awards the Douvas Scholarship, established by Peter George Douvas, an immigrant from Greece. This scholarship is awarded to a first-generation American youth who demonstrates financial need and the motivation to attend college.

First-generation American students who aim to attend one of the seven Wyoming community colleges or the University of Wyoming are eligible for the scholarship. One $500 scholarship will be awarded.

Requirements

  1. Students must be a first-generation American. A first-generation American is one born in the United States, but whose parents were not born in the United States.
  2. Be a high school senior or between the ages of 18 and 22.
  3. Be a Wyoming resident.
  4. Use the scholarship at one of the state’s seven community colleges or the University of Wyoming.
  5. Use the scholarship to partially meet educational expenses during the school year that follows the spring application.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Type of institution award is open to: two-year college
  • Type of institution award is open to: four-year college
  • Award is available to U.S. citizens
