Scholarship Description

The Detroit Promise offers a tuition-free path to trade, two-year and four-year credentials at 26 Michigan colleges. Many seniors who both live in Detroit and attend any high school in Detroit are already eligible.

Detroit Promise funding is not competitive. Every student who registers and meets the requirements will receive funding if their college determines they have an eligible funding gap.

  • All Detroit high schools are eligible (public, private, charter, parochial, etc.)  if the school has a Detroit address.
  • Students who attended multiple schools are eligible if all of the schools were located in Detroit.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must currently be in high school
  • For residents of the following states: Michigan
  • Type of institution award is open to: two-year college
  • Type of institution award is open to: four-year college
  • Award is available to U.S. citizens

  • Financial need analysis required
