Scholarship Description

The American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year nomination window is from November 1st to March 1st, annually. Nomination packets must be received by each applicant’s respective American Legion department (state) headquarters no later than March 1st. Then each respective American Legion Department (state) Selection Committee will determine the Eagle Scout judged to be the best in their department (state).

The American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year will receive a $10,000 scholarship. Three runner-up scholarship awards will be granted in the amount of $2,500 each. The scholarship recipients will be eligible to receive their scholarship immediately upon graduation from high school.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Aged between 15 and 18 years old
  • Must currently be in high school
  • Must be Male
  • Type of institution award is open to: four-year college
  • Award is available to U.S. citizens
